This week, we would like to introduce a special tableware brand – 96<KURO>.

96 is a black-dyed stainless steel tableware brand. The brand is based in Tsubame-Sanjo, Japan, a place that known to be the manufacturing centre for metal products. However, nowadays, a lot of tableware is made from other materials, fewer manufacturers to produce metal tableware, and some discontinued their metal tableware production line completely and left with many unused molds. With the cooperation of the local factories, 96 decided to use existing molds instead of making new ones. They even use cloth as their packaging, as it can be reused and recycled to wrap other things. 96 has always strived to implement an environmental friendly manufacturing process.

Black dyeing is not a widely known technique. It’s a dyeing technique that changes the color of the metal itself, so it does not peel off, unlike painting. Because it is made of stainless steel, there is no worry about cracking, and the elegant black with depth and matte has a beautiful contrast with the tableware and plays a role to enhance the taste. And the “black dyeing” process causes no harm to the human body.

Stainless steel tableware has its advantage: it does not break or crack. However, the stainless steel’s silvery metal color gives people a cold feeling. To make it a twist, 96 decided to dye their tableware black to add a touch of warmth, make the food more appealing and enjoyable with a unique attitude, it also matches both Asian and Western dishes.

96 has also been awarded by Top Awards Asia 2020 (https://www.topawardsasia.com) as the winner in the category of Outstanding in Functionality for its packaging design.

LITTLE NOTE:

96 is now in the process of redesigning their products, all sales will be temporary suspended until further notice.
